Howdy’s wanted a brand refresh fitting for their return. As marketing a restaurant’s opening during a pandemic was a new endeavor for our team, we conducted research on tone, trends, topics, and other information to adjust the brand’s messaging and content. Then, social media strategies and campaigns were developed to better target specific customer types and profiles. In order to reinforce confidence in safety practices, Howdy established a new motto which helped to drive social strategies: “Safety is the new hospitality.”
We chose bright and happy colors to evoke the feeling of the fresh, healthy food served at Howdy’s.
While many traditional marketing channels remain in place since the original Howdy’s opened more than two decades ago, today’s businesses enhance traditional methods with new tools to meet the demands of today’s consumers. Developing a robust and attractive website was crucial for Howdy’s online presence to capture and service both new and returning customers. We have found that most visitors to the website are on mobile and this allowed us to adapt and refocus our approach based on actionable data.
After another agency dropped the ball on delivering a website aligned to Howdy’s vision, we were able to put up a placeholder within minutes and then rapidly designed and developed the current website in only a few weeks. The robust website now features a live menu, online ordering, gift cards, news, and other evolving content geared to keep guests coming back for more. With over 4,000 monthly unique users, 5,000 monthly sessions, and an incredibly low bounce rate of 30%, Howdy’s is positioned for continued growth and success online.
With deep history in the Malibu community, Howdy asked us to help strategize and market the restaurant to both longtime guests and new ones as well. We were tasked with promoting hyper-locally in Malibu and across the Greater Los Angeles Metropolitan Area to capture desired target markets. Social media efforts have been wildly successful. In only 4 months, Howdy’s quickly gained 700+ engaged followers, 8,000+impressions, 5,000+ engagements, and over 500 profile actions – and that’s only Instagram.
